Mother’s Day 2023: 5 dining deals to enjoy

Finding great dishes and treats for Mother’s Day is probably a yearly struggle for most.

Budget limitations, food preferences and location are just some of the many factors that go into planning a Mother’s Day meal.

If you’re still struggling to find the right treat for the most special lady in your life, fret not!

Here’s a list of five dining deals to enjoy for Mother’s Day 2023.

On the weekends of May 6 to 7 and 13 to 14, diners can enjoy Cantonese and Sichuan set menus at two Min Jiang outlets. 

Featuring the culinary styles of two master chefs – Chan Hwan Kee at Min Jiang (Goodwood Park Hotel) and Goh Chee Kong at Min Jiang at Dempsey, the menu offers a choice of three sets available for lunch and dinner.

Menu highlights include double-boiled Song fish head soup Shanghai-style in stone pot and slow-braised abalone with sea cucumber, as well as crispy silver hill duck with homemade crepes. Complimentary longevity buns come with all sets.

The sets will start from $88, $108 and $138 per person. 

Min Jiang (Goodwood Park Hotel) is located at 22 Scotts Rd, Singapore 228221, while Min Jiang at Dempsey is located at 7A and 7B Dempsey Rd, Singapore 249684. Reservations for both can be made online.

From May 13 to 14, the York Hotel’s White Rose Cafe will offer a lunch buffet priced at $68 per adult and $34 per child. 

The feast will kick off with drunken chicken rolls and Vietnamese-style roast pork belly salad, followed by seafood treats like steamed mud crab and prawns with garlic and scallions.

Mains featured include Australian beef brisket and tendon stew, braised pork trotter and wok-fried cereal fish fillet. 

To top it all off, diners can enjoy traditional desserts like cheng tng, azuki bean soup and osmanthus jelly. 

White Rose Cafe is located in the York Hotel, 21 Mount Elizabeth, Singapore 228516. Reservations can be made on its website. 

One Farrer Hotel’s Grand Ballroom will host up to 300 diners on May 14, featuring a spread of fresh seafood on ice, dim sum, live stations for meat carvings, omelettes and a pink chocolate fountain.

Menu highlights also include eggs benny, oven-baked pizzas, DIY popiah, Penang assam laksa, and pandan layer cake.

All mothers will also receive gifts like macarons and egg cocotte bordelaise from the hotel.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, local bakery and cake atelier Baker’s Brew has released its new Mother’s Day collection, featuring baked goods low in sugar.

The collection includes treats like the Kyoto White Peach Cake that features layers of vanilla sponge cake filled with a ripe white peach compote, topped with a light and airy lychee cream frosting.

The bakery has also introduced Kochi Yuzu Cupcakes with a delicate vanilla base filled with yuzu curd and coated with a rich buttercream frosting.

Baker’s Brew has also collaborated with a floral company, The Wallflower Bud, to level up its Mother’s Day gifting. 

The collaboration features an exclusive preserved floral arrangement of mixed dried roses, pampas grass, eucalyptus leaves and other dried flowers in a blush and brown colour palette. 

There are two sets available – Kyoto White Peach Cake with Preserved Blooms and Kochi Yuzu Cupcakes with Preserved Blooms.

The new collection is available online and in limited quantities at Baker’s Brew retail outlets from May 5.

Buyers can also enjoy an early bird discount of 10 per cent till May 4 when they pre-order online.

Adorned with dainty purple and pink buttercream flowers, BreadTalk’s Mother’s Day cakes are a treat for both the belly and the eyes.

Made with dajia yam from Taiwan that is prized for its richness and characteristic fragrance, Only Yam comprises luscious yam paste, signature Japan light cheesecake, pudding and Chantilly cream cheese between yam chiffon layers. 

BreadTalk has also introduced Graceful Lychee, a Mother’s Day cake boasting an ensemble of sweet lychee coulis and smooth yoghurt mousse between layers of pink chiffon cake.
