MAS unveils 2023 Year of the Rabbit Chinese almanac coins
There are 10 versions of the coins in nickel-plated zinc, silver and gold.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) unveiled the 2023 Year of the Rabbit Chinese almanac coins on Wednesday (Nov 16).
The coins feature the rabbit against the backdrop of East Coast Park and its iconic sights, including the Amber Beacon Tower.
There are 10 different versions of the coins as well as four coin sets with different combinations of the coins, including one nickel-plated zinc coin, five 999 fine silver coins and four 999.9 fine gold coins.
The 2023 coins are the seventh issue in the Singapore Fourth Chinese Almanac Coin Series, which depicts zodiac animals in parks or natural landscape settings in Singapore. Launched in 2017, the series will run until 2028.
Limited quantities of the coins and coin sets are available for pre-order from Nov 16 to Dec 16, and the coins will be issued on Jan 1, 2023. Pre-orders can be placed through The Singapore Mint’s website or by calling 6566 2626.
The coins will be allocated by balloting if the number of orders received exceeds the quantity available.
