Marvel releases Thor: Love and Thunder teaser
Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster, this time, wielding Mjolnir as Mighty Thor.
Marvel Studios has just released the official teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder on Monday (Apr 18), showcasing the beloved heroes returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
This is the fourth Thor movie in the MCU.
Directed by Taika Waititi, its teaser shows life for Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) after the events of Avengers: Endgame. After fighting the battle against Thanos and giving up his position as King of Asgard to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Thor decides to find inner peace with himself and retire.
In the teaser, he can be seen finally getting back into shape, a step towards overcoming the trauma and grief he experienced in the previous films.
However, a new threat emerges with Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), a galactic killer with a vengeance and seeks the extinction of all gods.
Although the teaser did not imply, it is heavily suggested in the description of the video that the Guardians of the Galaxy will not be joining Thor for this adventure.
The description mentions instead that “Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman)”.
Natalie Portman was last seen as Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World and was not planning to return to the franchise. However she makes her comeback, this time, wielding Thor’s shattered hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty Thor.
From the colourful and vibrant universe to the star-studded casts, the teaser is full of exciting scenes that will leave Marvel fans curious on how the movie will play out.
Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theatres on Jul 8.
