Marina Bay Sands to host a Top Gun-themed lights, water and pyrotechnic show on May 21
This is a free admission event.
A Top Gun-themed light and water show with choreographed pyrotechnics will take place at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on May 21 at 8pm.
Admission to the event, organised by MBS and the United International Pictures, is free. It is held in conjunction with the impending release of Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to Tom Cruise’s 1986 blockbuster Top Gun.
The new movie, which stars Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell once again, starts showing in theatres in Singapore on May 25. It has been given an impressive 97 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The special one-off showcase, called Top Gun: Maverick – A Light, Water & Pyrotechnic Extravaganza, will be MBS’s first public fan event since the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside the relaunch of Marina Bay Sand’s Light and Water Show Spectra.
The showcase will feature an adaptation of Spectra which include state-of-the-art projections, lasers, lights and dynamic water effects alongside the scenes from the sequel.
It will also be accompanied by an orchestration of pyrotechnics to Top Gun: Maverick’s soundtrack Hold My Hand by Lady Gaga, written especially for the film by the singer-songwriter.
A Top Gun projection mappings will also illuminate Marina Bay Sands from the three hotel towers and the underbelly of Sands Skypark to the ArtScience Museum.
Those who did not catch the first show can catch a second showing which will take place at 9.30pm on the same day, but without the pyrotechnics display.
