The wildlife photos you take on your next trip to the zoo might just win you a whole new camera and other attractive prizes.

Mandai Wildlife Group is hosting a Discover Mandai photography contest from now till May 31. The contest, held in collaboration with Sony, is intended to inspire amateurs and seasoned photographers alike to capture elusive moments in nature within the parks.

“There’s never been a better time to highlight the beauty of life and this collaboration presents an opportunity for us to celebrate and document nature’s wonders through a variety of perspectives,” said Sony South East Asia general manager Melvin Pang in a press statement on Feb 21.

Participants have to submit their most creative shots taken in any of its four wildlife parks – Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Night Safari or Jurong Bird Park.

The contest comprises two categories, one dedicated to entries captured on Sony cameras and phones, while the other is open to photos shot on any device.

Park goers can also embark on a photo trail set by seven of Sony’s Alpha photographers to recreate or add a personal take to their shots.

The overall winner of the contest will be awarded a Sony mirrorless camera and an expert-guided Safari Adventure Tour that comes with feeding animal sessions and tickets to the Creatures of the Night Show.

An entry will also be selected per theme in each category to win cash, online vouchers and a Friends of Wildlife membership.

Aside from the contest, the seven award-winning photographers will hold a photo wall showcase and hands-on workshops from Mar to May.

To be considered for the prizes, entries will need to follow four steps, including specified hashtags, found online. The details of ongoing activities in the duration of the contest can be found on Mandai’s website.
