Long John Silver’s launched what it terms as the fast-food restaurant’s “spiciest creation”, the XTRA CRUNCHY Smashed Chicken, on Mar 30.

The smashed chicken consists of a spicy, crispy battered boneless chicken with “fiery” sambal, similar to the traditional ayam penyet. It is served with fragrant rice, sliced cucumber and tomato.

A complete set meal comes with a new drink on the restaurant’s menu, Happy Soda, and costs $8.90. The Happy Soda is a combination of F&N Cheeky Cherryade and milk and costs $3.20 individually.

The restaurant claims that the XTRA CRUNCHY Smashed Chicken creates a “perfect blend of flavour and heat”.

Long John Silver’s added in a comment on its Facebook post announcing the launch of the new meal: “Spice tolerance differs in different individuals, however, this is indeed the spiciest menu that we have on Long John Silver’s menu at the moment.”

The meal is available after 10.30am daily for dine-in or takeaway at selected stores or via delivery through foodpanda, Grab and Deliveroo. It will be around for a limited time only.
