Well-known Singaporean classical string ensemble T’ang Quartet will hold its 2023 and 2024 season opening concert at Victoria Concert Hall on Aug 29.

Titled Chamber of Heroes, the concert pays homage to the history of chamber music (instrumental music played by a small ensemble) while embracing new modern innovations that continue to shape the genre.

Joining the performance are guest musicians Dandan Wang and Jamshid Saydikarimov from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on the viola and cello.

Jamshid has performed in many countries including Korea, Switzerland, Vietnam, Austria and France.

Dandan Wang was admitted to the 2016 Pacific Music Festival, one of the most famous festivals in the world. She was also invited by Oscar and Grammy-awarded Chinese Composer Tan Dun to perform his chamber music pieces in Shanghai and Beijing.

The concert will feature works by musical giants such as Joseph Haydn, who is often revered as father of the string quartet, Caroline Shaw, and the famous Ludwig van Beethoven.

Some of the pieces being performed include Haydn’s String Quartet Op 20 No 2 in C Major and Beethoven’s String Quartet No 10 in E-flat Major Op 74.
