Local singer-songwriter Amanda Ong released her latest single, Dear Me on Friday (Aug 11).

Amanda, who started writing her own songs at the age of 17 attributes the inspiration for her latest single to her personal life experiences.

Dear Me is a time-defying song that seeks to reach my younger self with well-meaning, grown-up advice,” she explained.

She added that the light-hearted arrangement “will take listeners on a whimsical journey of self-reflection.”

Amid lively rhythms and melodies, the song conveys messages encompassing valuable life lessons, including the significance of self-listening, self-trust, learning from experiences and appreciating diverse perspectives.

Amanda hopes that her vocals, acquired wisdom and lyrics will present a narrative that can connect with individuals who wish to revisit their past to teach themselves a crucial life lesson or two.

She explains that the song’s “playful and upbeat disposition” may also encourage listeners to welcome the process of personal growth and authenticity.

Dear Me is some of the wisdom I learned from therapy that I wish I knew back then,” shared Amanda.

The single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, BandCamp and Deezer. The official music video will be released on Friday (Aug 18).

To date, the artist has released three EPs, spanning genres that encompass indie pop, jazz-funk and a cappella.

She is also the soprano of a five-member contemporary a cappella group New Recording 47, and the alto of Voices of Singapore a cappella.
