The Light to Night Festival will return in 2023 as part of the Singapore Art Week with new works by local and foreign artists and over 60 programmes to foster a greater appreciation of art.

Organised annually by the National Gallery of Singapore, the visual arts festival will run from Jan 6 to 26 at different locations around Singapore, including the Padang Field, The Arts House and Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.

The Light to Night Festival 2023’s theme is Here and Now, which is inspired by how artists are able to create works as responses to one’s time and environment.

Visitors can find two new installations at Padang Field during the festival, one of which is Ephemeral by Atelier Sisu, a light and sound installation that aims to capture the concept of ephemerality in the visual form of bubbles.

Hearing Padang, an interactive installation consisting of two curved structures will also be located on the field and creates an acoustic experience by allowing sound to travel from one end to another.

Visitors will also see the return of the Art X Social Festival Market and live performances by local artistes such as Aisyah Aziz, Lalit Kumar and Sonia Kwek x Anise through various festival programmes like Gallery Gigs and Gallery Mix.

To make art more accessible to the public, the National Gallery of Singapore will also hold a dialogue session named Artsplaining for visitors to find out more about artworks from gallery curators and personalities like Tiara Yap and Ryan Lee.

Those who prefer more lighthearted programmes can also look forward to Funny Fridays, a free-for-all live comedy series featuring stand-up comedians like Patricia Mok and Siraj Aziz.

Admission to the festival is free, and visitors can also enjoy free entry to all the exhibitions held from Fridays to Sundays.

During the Light to Night Festival, the National Gallery of Singapore will also have its daily opening hours extended to 11pm.
