Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen, rejoice – the second season of the popular anime will be released in 2023.

The release was announced at an event to commemorate the movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, being a blockbuster hit. After the movie was played, a box was rolled onto the stage and Junya Enoki, who plays the main character Yuji Itadori, leapt out of it to deliver the news.

The series’ manga artist Gege Akutami also delivered the news on Twitter with a special artwork to hype up the announcement.

Jujutsu Kaisen topped MyAnimeList’s ranking for Most Popular TV Anime of 2020 the year it was released. Classified as a shonen anime, it is known for its dark fantasy and horror tropes along with a generous number of action scenes.

The first season, animated by Studio MAPPA, premiered in October 2020 and ran weekly episodes until March 2021.

While no exact release date has been confirmed yet, the original cast of the anime is expected to return for Season 2.

Season one currently ends at the Death Painting Arc of the manga. Season two will follow the major conflict around Satoru Gojo in the Shibuya Incident Arc.
