Singer-songwriter and electro-pop sensation Jasmine Sokko has released a new track, Winter, after nine months.

The song is said to be “powerful and reflective”, and delves into the themes of endings and transitions.

Jasmine shared that the track was written as a way to process her thoughts and feelings. “After having the song sit in my computer for more than two years, this song began to mean a lot more than just feeling relentlessly certain about someone.

“Publishing Winter somehow feels less like releasing a song, and more like a rite to put the past behind me – a symbolic beginning representing the ending of a chapter as I move into new realms of my creative vision,” she explained.

Jasmine has since graduated from school and shared that Winter marks the first in a series of releases lined up for 2023. She teases an EP launch later in the year that fans can look forward to.

Of her future plans, Jasmine said that she will be very intentional with her music direction this year.

“2023 is set to be a very exciting and fun-filled year. Liberated. That’s how every cell of my body feels. I’m at the peak of my creativity now,” she added.

Jasmine’s last release, titled future tense, was back in May 2022. She is also known for her popular tracks including 1057, HURT, TIRED and MESS. In 2019, she clinched the Best Southeast Asian Act award at the MTV EMA.

Winter is now available on all digital platforms.
