Interactive Disney exhibition to make SEA debut in Singapore; features animated films of new and old
Character concept art, storyboard drafts and other rare behind-the-scenes pieces will be showcased at the exhibition.
A 360-degree immersive exhibition featuring Disney animated films of new and old will make its Southeast Asian debut in Singapore on Nov 18.
Organised by live entertainment company Base Entertainment Asia in partnership with Walt Disney Animation Studios, Immersive Disney Animation will celebrate 100 years of Disney at Marina Bay Sands’ Sands Theatre.
The exhibition takes visitors through a century’s worth of Disney animations. It also showcases the magic behind a vast range of films created by the renowned Walt Disney Animation Studios, such as classics like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, as well as more recent ones like Frozen and Encanto.
Upon entering into the exhibit, visitors will step into a vault area filled with “rarely seen” pieces of character sketches, drafts and other items from Walt Disney Animation Research Library. It is here that they may interact with an animator’s desk that lays out time lapses of character creations.
Visitors may also learn to draw their favourite Disney characters straight from an interactive drawing table set up there.

Walking through the vault doors will bring visitors to the exhibition’s gallery area, where they may “fully immerse themselves in the magic of Disney’s storytelling”.
This particular area holds a 360-degree immersive environment featuring iconic scenes from Disney’s many animated films, including those like The Lion King’s opening scene with baby Simba and Tangled’s floating lanterns scene.
Several parts of the exhibition space are equipped with special effects that heighten visitors’ immersion. A responsive floor projection will move in sync with visitors’ every step, and custom wristbands will illuminate based on their movements in the gallery area.

Tickets for Immersive Disney Animation will go on sale on Thursday (Sep 7) on Marina Bay Sands Ticketing, Trip.com and SISTIC.
Those interested in the exhibition can sign up for the waitlist to be notified early of when tickets are available for purchase.
