Initial D-themed bistro Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore to open in late Feb
It is inspired by the store of the same name featured in the manga, anime and live-action film.
Fans of Initial D might be familiar with the iconic Fujiwara Tofu Store, home to the series’ main protagonist. A pop-up concept bistro inspired by the store is set to open in Singapore at Sims Avenue in late February.
In the manga and anime, the store closely resembled a real tofu store in Japan’s Gunma Prefecture named the Fujino Tofu Store. This location was eventually turned into the Fujiwara Tofu Store for the 2005 live-action adaptation of Initial D, and the sign was never taken down by the owner.
When the store’s owner passed away in 2008, the store was closed and ultimately demolished. However, the Fujiwara Tofu Store continues to inspire themed cafés and restaurants in Malaysia, Indonesia and the United States.
The Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore is one such restaurant, being a bistro that features Initial D-themed decor. The store’s sign is almost identical to the original.

According to the store’s Instagram, customers can expect to enjoy finger food and drinks, as well as purchase Initial D merchandise at the bistro once it is officially open.
It is also currently looking for part-time and full-time servers and kitchen crew.
Since its storefront was completed, many fans have visited it to snap a picture of their car next to the iconic sign.

While the owners of the store welcome fans who would like to take pictures, they have also advised visitors about the tight turn into the location, and recommend reverse parking instead of driving head-in.

The Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop Singapore will open from 6pm to 2am once it is completed, and is located at 169 Sims Ave, #01-02, Singapore 387488.
