IMPACT 0489: THE ART OF MUSIC

Hi, I’m Louis Quek, 35, and I’m an electronic music producer, sound designer and DJ under the alias Intriguant. I started out with the electronic music and club culture scene through various events and parties.

I’m always inspired by my surroundings and the people around me. Over the years, I got to collaborate and work with many artists and creatives in the industry. That helps to shape the way I think about sound and music, and how it is able to evoke emotions and even transport you into a different time and space.

Today, I am the co-founder of CTRL UNIT, a creative studio that focuses on installations and creative branding through visual art, motion graphics and sound. I also run UPLOADING, a live event series that showcases the electronic music scene in Singapore.

This has allowed me to be able to experience the different artforms from several points of views.

To me, one thing I’ve learnt is that sound design and music are malleable, and so I applied that to my practice.
