IMPACT 0127: PHOTOGRAPHING SINGAPOREAN WILDLIFE
Jasmine Victoria Lye is a horticulture and landscape development student turned wildlife photographer. For her Final Year Project in school, she documented Singapore wildlife that died in the hands of man, whether directly or indirectly.
She then directed and organised a wildlife event, The Wild & Us (2021), in celebration of World Wildlife Week to promote wildlife conservation, raise awareness and encourage individual efforts.
“I’VE ALWAYS BELIEVED THAT ART, ESPECIALLY VISUAL ART, HAS THE POWER TO REACH THE MASSES AND TRANSLATE COMPLEX THOUGHTS AND IDEAS.”
“SINGAPORE IS A BIODIVERSITY HOTSPOT WITH WILD ANIMALS LIVING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO US. HOWEVER, THEY CONSTANTLY FACE THE THREAT OF HABITAT LOSS.”
