Felix Tan is a final year global studies student at NUS who founded Skilio, an edutech startup that helps youth build digital soft skills to secure their dream careers.
When COVID-19 first hit, he started Skilio Industry Immersion Programme (SIIP) to help youth who had their internship offers rescinded land placements with local companies and develop skills through their software. They have helped 225 students secure work experience through SIIP.
“IT’S PARAMOUNT THAT WE HELP EQUIP OUR YOUTH EARLY WITH THE SKILLS TO SUCCEED IN THE VUCA (VOLATILE, UNCERTAIN, COMPLEX, AMBIGUOUS) WORLD THAT THEY ARE ABOUT TO ENTER.”
“THE WORLD THAT OUR YOUTH WILL GRADUATE INTO WILL BE DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE WE HAVE TODAY. IT IS THEREFORE IMPORTANT TO HELP YOUTH DEVELOP SOFT SKILLS, WHICH ARE HARDER TO AUTOMATE.”
