In case you didn’t have time to read or watch the news, here is this week’s round-up of the latest happenings.

1. Oil spills across the island

Within two weeks, there were three oil spills that affected thousands of commuters across the island. The first oil spill, which occurred on Jan 29, caused massive traffic jams from the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) all the way to Woodlands bus interchange.

A second oil spill occurred on Feb 1, on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) near the Jurong Town Road exit. The third (and the last, we hope) occurred just two days ago on Feb 2 at Kampong Bahru, towards the Central Expressway. All three were caused by vehicle collisions.

2. Jamie Yeo's Project Nee Soon Cares

Our writer, Ai Xuan recently caught up with popular GOLD 90.5FM radio presenter and television host Jamie Yeo to talk about her charity initiative, Project Nee Soon Cares.

The project aims to help families in need by pairing them with families who contribute care packages every month. The motivation behind her initiative is her five-year-old daughter, Alyson or Aly for short.

3. Handwriting personalities

Can you really tell one’s personality based on their handwriting? Our writer Raphael made the team write a couple of sentences before attempting to analyse our scribbles.

4. K-pop Hologram concert theatre to open at Sentosa

Attention all K-pop fans! K-live Sentosa, a hologram concert theatre, will open on Feb 23 at Resorts World Sentosa, offering K-pop fans a concert experience like no other. Expect to fangirl over hologram performances by popular acts such as Wonder Girls, GOT7 and 2PM.

You will also be treated to a cultural showcase consisting of a Korean traditional performance, Korean traditional painting and several other dances too! Forget going to Korea or waiting a few years for your favourite K-pop bands to return, because they’re “coming” for ya!

THE CONCEPT OF HOLOGRAM CONCERT THEATRES ORIGINATED FROM SOUTH KOREA.

If you haven’t seen the viral video of hunky fitness YouTuber Bryan Hawn lip syncing to Adele’s ‘Hello’ with Marina Bay Sands as his back drop, then stop what you’re doing and watch it now.

It might just be the best thing to watch on a slow Friday afternoon.

HE CLAIMED THAT HE RECORDED EVERYTHING ON HIS OWN WITH A TRIPOD.
