HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens tournament to return in April
Tickets purchased for 2020’s cancelled tournament will still be valid for this year’s event.
The HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens tournament is returning in April 2022, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Taking place from Apr 9 to Apr 10, this tournament is the fifth of nine tournaments that make up 2022’s World Rugby Sevens series, where sixteen teams compete against each other for the title.
The world series initially scheduled for 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, and the 2021 tournament was significantly scaled back with no stops in Singapore.
As such, tickets bought for the 2020 tournament in Singapore are still valid, and can be used for this year’s event. More ticket details and safe management measures will be made available on the Singapore Sevens website.
Team South Africa is currently in the lead with 88 points, having won the previous four tournaments that took place in Dubai and Spain. Close behind is Team Argentina with 70 points.
Team Fiji and Team New Zealand are also making their return, with Team Fiji having won gold at the 2020 Olympics and Team New Zealand currently holding the title for the 2019-2020 World Series.
