Herschel joins the dark side with new Star Wars collection
It is inspired by the classic villains of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Herschel’s latest collection, a collaboration with Star Wars, is inspired by the villains from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
The collection was released on Thursday (Feb 25).
If you’ve ever been drawn to the classic white Stormtrooper armour, the pinstripe stitching around Darth Vader’s chest plate or Boba Fett’s customised Mandalorian armour, this collection is for you.
In an interview conducted by the Star Wars team with Jon Warren, vice-president of product design at Herschel Supply Company, he said: “We wanted to work with the dark side and The Empire Strikes Back right out of the gate — the villains are some of our favourite characters from the Star Wars galaxy.
“As designers, we see their uniforms as an extension of their story, so we decided to build designs off of what the characters wear and their equipment.”
The primarily white stormtrooper-inspired set includes a mini Nova Backpack for $119.90, a Miller Backpack for $139.90, a Settlement Case for $39.90 and a Seventeen Hip Pack for $69.90.
There are different screen-printed details of the stormtrooper’s uniform and equipment on the bags too, such as a thermal detonator on the Settlement Case. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you’re bound to recognise these easter eggs immediately.
For the most iconic villain in Star Wars, Darth Vader, the Herschel team went all out. From a heat transfer printing technique to recreate the pinstripe stitching around Darth Vader’s chest plate to including one of the most iconic quotes in the cinematic world, the team definitely thought of every minute detail.
The set comprises a $69.90 Seventeen Hip Pack, a $209.90 Herschel Little American Backpack, a $149.90 mid-volume Nova Backpack and a Novel Duffle from $159.90.
For one of the most feared bounty hunters in the Star Wars galaxy, the Boba Fett collection has a more extract, military-style print. The interior liner print “AS YOU WISH” is a graphic play on his helmet and visor. The mustard yellow colourway is a reference to his knee and shoulder armour.
There is an XL Dawson Backpack for $189.90, a large form crossbody for $79.90, an XL classic backpack for $129.90 and a small Dawson Backpack for $139.90 in the Boba Fett collection.
