HDB shifts upcoming BTO sales exercise to end September, early October; to offer 6,700 flats across 4 towns and estates
By revising the timeline, prospective flat applicants will have the opportunity to know their queue position in the May BTO exercise before they apply for the next sales launch.
In the upcoming Build-To-Order (BTO) sales exercise, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) will offer about 6,700 flats across towns and estates such as Choa Chu Kang, Kallang Whampoa, Queenstown and Tengah.
However, the Board has announced a change in the usual window for the next BTO sales exercise. Instead of the end of August and early September timeframe, the exercise will now take place between end September and early October.
The move comes after considering the ballot results for the May BTO and Sales of Balance Flats (SBF) exercises. They will only be announced in the first and last week of August respectively.
With the revised timeline, prospective flat applicants will be able to know their queue position before deciding whether to apply for a flat in the next sales launch.
This will also allow the Board “to finalise the system changes” needed for the new First-Timer (Parents & Married Couples) priority category and other changes that will be implemented from the next sales exercise.
According to HDB’s announcement on Apr 28, flat buyers are required to have a valid HDB Flat Eligibility (HFE) letter for their new flat applications, beginning from the third quarter sales exercise onwards.
HDB encourages those who intend to apply for a flat in the next sales exercise to apply for their HFE letter by mid-August. This is to avoid a situation where the HFE letter cannot be approved in time for the flat application in the next sales exercise.
The final sales exercise, scheduled for December, will see about 6,300 flats in towns and estates such as Bukit Merah, Bedok, Bishan, Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Queenstown and Woodlands on offer.
HDB shared that around 10,000 flats were launched in the first half of the year, and an additional 13,000 flats will be launched during the second half of the year.
It added that it will continue monitoring the housing demand and that it remains on track to launch a total of 100,000 flats from 2021 to 2025.
