While Haw Par Villa is more commonly associated with Chinese folklore and the underworld, it will soon play host to an international music festival too.

The ASEAN Music Showcase Festival (AMS) 2022 will have its first physical showcase held throughout the Haw Par Villa compound on Sep 10 and 11, on three stages.

Since its inception in 2020, AMS’ showcases have only taken place online due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The first live showcase this year will feature more than 40 up-and-coming and established artistes from 11 different countries. They will perform a myriad of music genres.

Representing Singapore are artistes ffion, Amateur Takes Control, cues, Fauxe and Bground. Ffion was Spotify’s EQUAL Ambassador of the Month (August) for Singapore and Malaysia, and Amateur Takes Control will make a return to performing after a three-year long hiatus.

Cambodian artiste Vannda, who have just released his new album SKULL 2 (Season 1), will also be on the line-up.

Thai Hip-hop labels YUPP! and HIGH CLOUD Entertainment artistes such as BOOM BOOM CASH and AUTTA featuring Flower.Far will take the stage.

The festival will also feature other international acts from Taiwan, India and Australia. Fans can look forward to Taiwanese indie bands Huan Huan and I Mean Us, Indian jazz-rock fusion band Jatayu and Australian musician and producer Yeo.

Fans who are unable to attend in person can view the virtual showcase that will be broadcasted on ASEAN Music Showcase Festival’s YouTube channel. The virtual showcase lineup will be announced at a later date.

The AMS will run from 3pm to 10pm on Sep 10 and 11. Tickets are at a standard $35 and can be purchased on SISTIC here.
