Guided tours to Raffles Lighthouse to be held twice a month from February
The tours are part of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s efforts to cultivate interest in Singapore's history and heritage as an international maritime hub.
If you are keen to learn more about Singapore’s history as an international maritime hub, here’s something you can look forward to.
From February onwards, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will be conducting guided tours to the Raffles Lighthouse on Pulau Satumu on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
Tours to Raffles Lighthouse are not new as MPA has been offering them since 2012 during the annual Singapore Maritime Week. However, the MPA said in a press release that it has decided to conduct these tours regularly now due to the strong public interest in Singapore’s rich maritime heritage.
Participants can enjoy a 75-minute audio tour during the ferry ride from Marina South Pier to Pulau Satumu. They will be taught about various aids to navigation and the role of the Raffles Lighthouse.
The ferry will pass by the Southern Islands like St. John Island, Pulau Semakau and Kusu Island.
If participants are up for the challenge, they can climb 88 steps up the 29m-tall lighthouse for a scenic view of the open sea.

Tickets are priced at $58.85 per person but students can enjoy a discounted price of $32.10. Participants have to be at least 18 years old to take part in the tour.
