After nine long years at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, the GRUB burger bistro will bid farewell in January 2022.

In a Facebook post on Sunday (Sep 26), its founders announced that the bistro’s lease would not be renewed next year and it will need to move out by January 2022.

After building this place up from an empty patch of land and spending nine years serving this community, we are still trying to come to terms with the shock that this space will no longer be our home,” GRUB wrote in its post.

GRUB said that it is “actively searching for places” right now.

“It has been our joy and pleasure being part of this community for almost a decade. Do come and have a meal with us before we leave in January,” it added in its posts, while encouraging its customers to adhere to safe distancing measures amid the recent spike in COVID-19 cases

Patrons of the bistro quickly expressed their dismay at the news, with some users leaving comments reminiscing the good times they had at GRUB.

A Facebook user, Ranice Lim Xin Yi, tagged her partner and wrote: “One of our first dates and the first place we had churros. And it’ll be GONE.”

Another user, Timothy Ho, added: “This is so, so very sad to hear! That part of Bishan Park was made all the more lively and happening thanks to your hard work, dedication and love! That being said, I’m sure greater things lie ahead for you and I look forward to the next big opening!”
