The Great Christmas Village will return to Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza after a two-year hiatus, as part of the Christmas on A Great Street event, from Dec 7, 2022 to Jan 2, 2023.

The village will feature a brand-new all-white carousel taking centre-stage, a licensed character Inflatable Bouncer and rides such as the Samba Balloon, Red Swing, Pirate Ship, Trackless Train and Teacups.

Visitors can also enjoy bites from popular F&B outlets such as VeganBurg, Speciality Thai Grills, Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. There will also be a beer garden.

Live music performances will be available every evening from Fridays to Sundays. Members of the public can look forward to the sounds of local performers including Jack & Rai, Cold Cut Duo, Daniel Sid and Fyrdaus Macbeth.

For the first time on Orchard Road, there will be a dual-façade giant outdoor projection.

A 10-minute multimedia 3D projection show with augmented reality (AR) features will take place each night from 7pm to 10pm starting from Nov 1, on the facade of Mandarin Gallery facing Ngee Ann City.

The other facade of the same building facing Somerset will feature 3D projections of past light-ups, a spinning ferris wheel, arcade games, and a firework display in AR.

Visitors can also look forward to bringing the nightly projection to life, using the PopAR Live app on their mobile phones.

Those who visit on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, can expect special features to appear on the giant outdoor projection.

The PopAR Live App can also be used to scan the key visuals on any of the 27 glass panels located along the entire stretch of Orchard Road between ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery for a visual treat.

Popular Christmas tunes will also be played daily from 10am to 6.59pm at selected zones from Wheelock Place to Mandarin Gallery to enhance the Christmas mood.

On top of these installations, visitors can expect the return of light displays at this year’s Christmas on A Great Street.

The decorations will begin at Tanglin Road, where there will be an arch designed with ferris wheels and stars.

Those who wish to catch a glimpse of the main arch can do so at the junction of Orchard Road and Scotts Road.

One of this year’s highlights will include 104 trees being lit up with energy-saving LED white lights. The lights will then take on pink hues in early 2023, as Orchard Road prepares for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day.
