Gojek to introduce taxi-booking services in Singapore in 2021

You will soon be able to book a taxi on your Gojek app, providing more options for your ride-hailing needs. 

Gojek announced on Thursday (Nov 26) that it is looking to roll out a number of new services in Singapore by the first half of next year, including allowing riders to book metered fare taxis directly from its app. 

The new licensing framework for the point-to-point transport sector, which came into effect on Oct 30, allows taxi drivers to legally sign up with any ride-hailing service. 

Previously, ride-hailing services had to sign agreements with different taxi companies to list their drivers on the platform.

“It makes a lot of sense for us to then have a dedicated taxi service as well, if the commuters choose to want to specifically have a taxi ride,” said Gojek’s general manager Lien Choong Luen.

Other plans in the pipeline include allowing riders to book larger vehicles as well as providing a corporate solution for businesses and their employees.
