How much do you really know about our national monuments? You can put that knowledge to the test should you embark on National Heritage Board’s (NHB) puzzle hunt from Nov 5 till Dec 17.

Monumental Hunt in the Civic District is launched in conjunction with the gazette of the Padang as Singapore’s 75th Monument and aims to “promote greater awareness and appreciation of Singapore’s National Monuments”.

The hunt will take participants to nine National Monuments – the Central Fire Station, National Gallery Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), Former Hill Street Police Station, The Arts House, St. Andrew’s Cathedral, The Padang and the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.

The game will start at the ACM. There will be a game master who will provide an overview of the hunt and distribute a Game Kit to each participant.

The kit contains a puzzle booklet, map/puzzle tool, sticker sheet and hint card. Aided with the game kit, participants will have to navigate the game area, search for certain objects, keep an eye out for clues within and around monuments and solve puzzles throughout the hunt.

There is no proper “sequence” to the monuments, nor a timer to beat. Participants are free to solve these puzzles at their own pace.

Upon completing the entire hunt, participants will obtain one of eight limited edition pins that feature the National Monuments.

The puzzle hunt will also feature a side quest with a pair of Monumental Walking Tour tickets up for grabs. Participants who complete this side quest can stand a chance to win these tickets in a monthly draw by NHB.

To play, participants must find and take a photo with a wall plaque that reads ‘Majulah Singapura’ in the Victoria Theatre and use the tags @nationalmonuments_sg and #CDmonumentalhunt on Instagram.

Monumental Hunt in the Civic District will take place every Saturday from Nov 5 to Dec 17 with three start-off times: 10am, 11am and 12pm.

It is recommended for those aged 13 and above, while those 12 and below must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets go for $20 per adult and $15 for children aged seven to twelve years old. The hunt is free for children aged six and below.
