Four thoughts I had when I heard ‘This Town’ by Niall Horan
Happiness, jealousy, and love, all thanks to Niall Horan.
While you were probably binge watching the last few episodes of Stranger Things or finishing up your school assignments, I was blessed by an angel named Niall Horan last Thursday evening.
Niall Horan from British-Irish boyband, One Direction, graciously gave the world a slice of heaven when he released his single ‘This Town’ – almost a year after the band’s hiatus from touring.
Unlike the hordes of mid-pubescent teenage girls going into a frenzy on social media, the rest of the world seemed surprisingly impressed by the single performed and co-written by the 23-year-old.
While Directioners, myself included, are still mourning the hiatus of the best boyband in history, here are the four thoughts I had when I heard ‘This Town’ for the first time.
1. "He sounds like an angel…"
Not just any angel, but a choir of harmonious angels hand-picked by God to sing you to sleep.
Okay, that may sound a little dramatic, but Niall sounds pretty amazing in his solo track. With his heartfelt lyrics and his acoustic guitar, you will be left feeling impressed after a few spins of his acoustic song.

2. "Did he write this for me?!"
Before you call me crazy, let’s get a few things straight…
In Niall’s recent Instagram post, he wrote: “Been workin in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. thank you for always being there”. Well, he did thank Directioners, implying that this could be a ‘Thank you’ song for us.

Secondly, the whole song is clearly about a love interest. With lyrics like ‘There’s something about you’ and ‘Everything comes back to you’, you can’t blame us for hoping that the song was about each and every one of us.
But if it is not, Niall, please tell me who your muse is. I won’t get mad, I promise.
3. "Wait, so did they really break-up?"
I won’t lie; this has crossed my mind a hundred times. Especially after Zayn’s early departure from the band, rumours about the band breaking up didn’t help.
Thankfully, Niall, being the sweetheart he is, set the record straight a few days ago.
In an interview with iHeartRadio, he restored our faith in boybands when he said: “There’s going to be plenty more One Direction tours, that’s a guarantee.” *squeals*
Fret not, my fellow Directioners. We’ll have more than just #OTRASG to look back on when we’re 70 and shrivelled up. Yay!
4. "I'll still love these boys"
While our days of staying Up All Night and reading fan fiction are long gone, the Directioner in us will live on forever.
Even if this hiatus remains a hiatus for the next century, or if Zayn miraculously decides to reunite with the band, I will still love and support these boys, just as I did when I was 16.

As for now, we’ll be here waiting to see what the future holds for these boys!
