Four mini cereal recipes from TikTok to switch up your usual breakfast

Making mini food and eating them with milk is the latest trend on TikTok.

TikTok has been the go-to platform for many new trends this year, including the viral Dalgona coffee that had everyone whipping up coffee foam for half an hour.

Recently, another new food trend has sparked off another wave of users cooking up a mini feast on the video-sharing platform. It is none other than mini cereals, which are miniature versions of food like pancakes and cookies.

Here are four mini cereals recipes you can try to make breakfast fun again!

1. Mini pancake cereal

TikTok user Sydney Melhoff made mini pancakes as a joke and posted a bowl of the tiny pancakes on her account. When the video went viral, it kicked off the trend of making mini food to eat as cereal!

Here is a recipe by The Naughty Fork.

– 2 cups all purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 eggs
– 1 and 3/4 cups milk
– 2 tablespoons butter, melted
– Optional: Mini chocolate chips/ Mini M&Ms


  1. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients together. In another bowl, beat the eggs into the milk, and then stir in the melted butter. Pour the wet mixture into the dry, and whisk together until batter forms.
  2. Add the batter to a piping bag, squeeze bottle, or a zip lock bag (and cut a bit of the corner)
  3. In a large skillet, melt 1-2 teaspoons butter on medium heat. Begin to pipe small circles (about a quarter in size or smaller) onto the skillet. Make sure they’re at least a half inch apart.
  4. Once bubbles begin to form on the top of each pancake, flip them all together. They may stick together, but that’s okay. You can easily pull them apart and because they are small, they will be cooked through.
  5. Once you have made a good amount of mini pancakes, add them all back to the skillet with 1 tablespoon of butter. This will allow them all to crisp up together.
  6. Add to a bowl and serve with maple syrup!

2. Mini cookies cereal

Following the creation of the mini pancakes cereal, food blogger Justin Schuble decided to make cookies into cereal. His video blew up on TikTok and it had people recreating cookies into cereal as well.

– Ready-made cookie dough (if you don’t have cookie dough, you can make your own!)


  1. Cut your cookie dough into even pieces. You want to make sure they bake evenly or else some will burn and others will be undercooked. Instead of rolling them into balls, just round the edges. Add an extra chocolate chip on top for a prettier final product.
  2. Bake at 180°C for about seven minutes (cookies will still be a little soft). Let them sit on the counter and harden for a few minutes.
  3. Add a few spoonfuls of your mini cookies to a bowl and enjoy with milk. To avoid getting all the cookies soggy at once, only add a few bites to your bowl at a time.

3. Mini cinnamon rolls cereal

If you thought cookie cereal was cute, get ready for cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon rolls cereal is another fascinating addition to the mini cereals trend.

– 1 can Pillsbury crescent dough sheet
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup cinnamon
– Flour for dusting
– 2 tablespoons butter, melted
– Milk


  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C, and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar together.
  3. Open a can of crescent dough, and cut off approximately 1 tablespoon of dough. Roll it into a ball the size of a walnut, and set aside. Repeat with remaining dough.
  4. Lightly dust your work surface with flour, and roll the dough out into 4-inch disks. Brush the top of each disk with melted butter, then sprinkle approximately 1 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar on top of the dough evenly. Carefully roll the dough into a log, pressing down slightly to seal.
  5. Use a sharp knife to slice into small rounds. If the tiny rolls are slightly misshapen, gently press them back into a round. Lay the disks on the baking sheet a 1/4-inch apart, and continue until you’ve filled two baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the tops are slightly golden brown and cooked through. Let cool, then remove from the baking sheet.
  7. Pour into a bowl, and top with milk. Enjoy!

4. Mini chocolate-filled cones cereal

As the mini cereals trend progressed, people started getting creative with their miniature food. Christine Wijaya’s mini cereals have popped up on TikTok’s For You Page a few times, with her creations of mini cereals like croissants and waffles.

Try her recipe to recreate these interesting chocolate-filled mini cones.


– 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
– 3/4 cup powdered sugar
– 3 large egg whites
– 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
– 5 tablespoons melted butter
– Waffle-cone maker
– 1 cup chocolate chips


  1. Whisk 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 3/4 cup powdered sugar and set aside.
  2. Using an electric mixer, whisk 3 egg whites and 2 tablespoons sugar on high speed until it forms stiff peaks.
  3. Fold in dry ingredients from step 1 into mixture from step 2 until blended.
  4. Fold in 5 tablespoons of melted butter until blended.
  5. Grease the waffle-cone maker with non-stick spray/melted butter.
  6. Place a dollop of the mixture in the middle of the waffle-cone maker. Close the lid and wait for 1-2 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown.
  7. Using the cone molder, immediately mold the warm waffle into a small cone shape and let it cool completely.
  8. While the cones cool down, melt the chocolate on a double boiler until completely melted.
  9. Put as much chocolate into the cone as you desire. Place the filled cones on a baking sheet and let the chocolate harden completely before consuming.
  10. Once the chocolate is cooled, put the cones into a bowl, pour some milk and enjoy!
