Five things to do this weekend (Sep 1-3)
Meet Pikachu or catch free movie screenings over the long polling weekend.
Kick off the month of September by watching football matches at the Lion City Cup, basking among the floral displays at Jewel and more.
Here are five things to do this weekend (Sep 1-3):
1. Support U-15 football teams at the Lion City Cup
The 27th edition of the Lion City Cup will make its return on Sep 1 and 3 after a seven-year hiatus.
Four Under-15 (U15) teams will be playing this year – Malaysia’s Selangor Football Club, Thailand’s BG Pathum, Indonesia’s Borneo FC and Singapore’s National Development Centre (NDC).

The tournament will begin on Friday (Sep 1) with debutants Borneo FC and BG Pathum facing off at 5pm. The NDC will then take on Selangor FC at 8pm.
The final and the third-place play-off will be held two days later on Sep 3.
All matches will be played at Jalan Besar Stadium. Limited tickets are available via SISTIC.
2. Meet and take pictures with Pikachu
In collaboration with oil and gas company Shell, Pokémon is releasing special edition dehumidifier plushies of popular characters Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax and Charizard from Sep 1.
From Sep 2 to 3, meet-and-greet sessions with Pikachu will be held at selected time slots at six Shell stations – Shell Hougang, Shell Siglap, Shell Paya Lebar Macpherson, Shell Bukit Nature Park, Shell Havelock and Shell Tampines Avenue 2.
Customers have to hold a Shell GO+ membership and the Shell Asia app installed in order to take pictures with the mascot.

The Pikachu and Snorlax dehumidifier plushies will be available for purchase on Sep 1, while Eevee will be released on Oct 1 and Charizard on Nov 1. All plushies will be on sale from 10am on the respective release dates.
3. Catch free film screenings at Wisma Geylang Serai
Free movie screenings will be held at Wisma Geylang Serai on Sep 3, as part of the MINDS Film Festival (MFF).
Organised by MINDS and Singapore Film Society, the festival aims to promote greater awareness, understanding and advocacy of intellectual disabilities within the local community.
From 2pm to 6.30pm, the session will include two films – Korean comedy Inseparable Bros and Japanese documentary The Reason I Jump.

Seats are available at a first-come-first-serve basis. More information about the festival can be accessed via MFF’s website.
4. Visit Jewel Changi Airport’s floral festival
Jewel Changi Airport will host its inaugural Jewel Blooms floral festival from Sep 1 to 10. Its Shiseido Forest Valley and Canopy Park Petal Garden will feature floral installations by local floristry artists.
A marketplace will also be set up from Sep 1 to 3, with eight pop-up stalls run by local artisans, plant nurseries and other eco-friendly vendors. This includes names like tropical orchid grower Toh Garden, floral wholesaler and distributor Candy Floriculture, and Nobleman School of Floral Design.

A total of five talks, workshops and demonstrations about ikebana arrangements, horticulture and floristry will be held by experts on Sep 2 and 3. All are free to participate, except for the Bell Jar Arrangement workshop priced at $65 per person.
The event is free for all to enter, though admission fees into Canopy Park still apply. More information about the event can be found on Jewel Changi Airport’s website.
