Five things to do this weekend (Jul 7 – 9)

Indulge in Taiwanese fried ice cream and local short films this weekend!

Unwind from the week of work and school by immersing yourself in the arts or indulging in some sweet treats!

Here are five things to do this weekend (Jul 7 – 9):

1. Visit the BTS Dynamite Experience pop-up at Orchard Road

Located in front of Ngee Ann City, the BTS Dynamite experience spans across 39m of road and features three zones: LEGO BTS Big Builds Stage, Disco Retail Zone and Record Discovery Zone.

Visitors are able to take pictures with the 1.2m LEGO minifigure forms of the world-renowned K-pop band members at the LEGO BTS Big Builds Stage, which is made up of over 161,000 LEGO bricks.

Visitors can also participate in the LEGO BTS Dynamite trivia on Jul 8 from 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm. Upon scanning a QR code, participants will be tasked to answer a minimum of seven questions correctly in order to claim a prize.

On the next day, on Jul 9, they can also take photos with three LEGO BTS photo standees and post these pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #LEGOBTSSG to claim a prize. The standees can be found at the ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City LEGO certified stores, as well as the LEGO BTS Dynamite experience pop-up space.

The LEGO Dynamite experience at Orchard Road will be open from 11am to 9pm daily.

2. Try out Taiwanese fried ice cream brand Frozen Heart

Opened on Jul 6, Taiwanese ice cream chain Frozen Heart is serving the brand’s most popular product – the Frozen Heart Fried Ice Cream at its first outlet in Singapore at Jewel Changi Airport.

Premium flavours are priced at $4.50 per piece, while classic flavours are priced at $3.80 each.

The outlet will also sell Gelato cups which are available in seven different flavours: Pistachio, Rose Litchi, Apple-flavoured blueberry, Magic Unicorn, Salty Peanut, Caramel Macchiato, and Donatella.

Frozen Heart will is open daily from 10am to 10pm at Jewel Changi Airport, #B2-258.

3. Enjoy various SAF Day Deals

Although SAF Day celebrations are over, there are still plenty of ongoing deals that are up for grabs. 

NSFs, NSmen and SAFRA members can look forward to various promotions such as discounted entry rates to local water park, Wild Wild Wet until Aug 31.

Another deal that can still be redeemed is the exclusive Burger King ‘Book Out Bundle’, which is an annual promotion dedicated to SAF Day.

Priced at $15.50 (U.P. $23.60), this year’s bundle will run until Aug 31. It includes a Long Chicken Burger, a Double Fish Burger, a large Cheesy Fries and two small Iced Milo. 

NSFs and NSmen can redeem the bundle using the promo code “NSBOOKOUT” at the self-service kiosks.

The promotion is applicable to all Burger King outlets except Changi Airport (Terminal 1, 4, and Transit area 1,3,4) and The Woodgrove. No customisation to burgers or sides is allowed and any change of drinks may incur additional charges.

The deal is also valid for both dine in and takeaway and will run while stocks last.

4. Catch the film showcase: ‘Fresh Meat’

Organised by *SCAPE, Fresh Meat will screen short films from different genres such as documentary, comedy, action, animation, and horror.

On Jul 8 and Aug 12, the event will see six Singaporean short films showcased at Suntec City Golden Village. 

The six films are 21 by Christine Seow, Every Floor Looks The Same by Gladys Ng, Henchmen by Alistair Quak, Hot Buns by Calleen Koh, Strawberry Cheesecake by Tan Siyou, and You Will See by Kathleen Bu.

The screenings will be held at Suntec City Golden Village Hall 4 from 4pm to 6pm. The running time for all of the films is approximately 80 minutes and will be followed by a post-show “no holds barred” Q&A session with the filmmakers.

Tickets for the public are priced at $15.50 each. Singapore Film Society members, *SCAPE Communities and students can purchase the tickets at a discounted price of $13.50. Those interested can make their purchase on Golden Village’s website.

5. Take part in various arts and cultural events at the PAssionArts Festival 2023

As part of the ongoing PAssionArts Festival 2023, members of the public can look forward to a plethora of arts and culture activities at various Community Arts & Culture Clubs (CACC) across the island.

This includes a diorama creation workshop at the Art Kaleidoscope at Tampines Central on Jul 8. 

The festival will also feature a family canvas art competition as well as an open stage concert band competition for secondary schools at Our Tampines Hub from 9pm to 6pm.

Additionally, the Radin Mas Arts Week will take place from Jul 9 to Jul 23 at Bukit Merah Community Centre. 

Members of the public can also view a wall mural painting of flowers and butterflies at Block 108 Bukit Purmei. There will also be a Samsui women stage show by students of Shelton College and a Chinese opera performance.
