In our city of skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, there are endless rooftops to admire our landscape from a bird’s eye view!

If you are looking for places to relax at, here are five rooftop locations hand-picked for you.

1. Suntec City Sky Garden

A rooftop paradise for foodies, Suntec City Sky Garden has 13 restaurants overlooking the civic district. Situated on level three between Towers 1 to 5, the Sky Garden also has many spots to chill.

The area has plenty of benches and seats on the upper and lower deck of the rooftop, although not all seats are under shade.

The rooftop is fairly vacant during the mid-afternoon and provides a quiet place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the mall. However, it may get slightly crowded during the peak lunch and dinner hours.

Address: 3 Temasek Boulevard
Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily

2. Faber Peak

A tourist destination with a myriad of restaurants and cable cars for visitors to enjoy, Faber Peak is a must-visit for those looking to get away from the city!

The fresh air and stunning views of the city are definitely what makes people come back for more.

The long and winding route up Mount Faber features many seats so that you can admire the views of the sprawling hillsides and enjoy the occasional breeze along the way.

Mount Faber is also home to the popular cable car line that brings passengers on a round-trip to Harbourfront and Sentosa.

Other attractions at Faber Peak include the Bell of Happiness, a gleaming kaleidoscopic light show and the Peek-A-Loo (reportedly hailed as one of the best toilets in the world) with its floor-to-ceiling windows.

Address: 109 Mount Faber Road
Opening hours: 8.45am to 9.30pm daily

3. National Gallery Singapore

The National Gallery Singapore is more commonly known for its beautiful art galleries, but it actually boasts a rooftop with an incredible view of the Central Business District area and the Singapore River.

The rooftop is easily accessible through a lift next to the museum’s ticketing counter, although there is a short flight of stairs to climb before reaching the upper deck.

Besides the open area, there is also a Chinese restaurant, Yàn, located on the right side of the lower deck.

The place is usually quiet with few visitors, except when the restaurant holds events. As there is not much shade for the lower deck, it can feel warm and humid at times.

The upper deck is normally filled with soft music and low chatter from the few customers at Aura Sky Lounge and Smoke & Mirrors. Both bar and restaurant have outdoor seats offering skyline views of the Padang and Marina Bay area.

Address: 1 St Andrews Road
Opening hours: 10am to 7pm daily

4. Design Orchard

A space for over 60 local brands ranging from skincare to home decor, Design Orchard is an integrated retail and incubation space nestled at the heart of Orchard Road.

Besides the selection of locally owned brands, one of the highlights of Design Orchard is its terraced rooftop. The area is full of lush greenery and sheltered seats, making it the perfect lounge area to relax in after a day of shopping!

The rooftop offers a view of the busy intersection at Orchard Road as well as its surrounding shopping malls. While the traffic can get noisy, the rooftop is an otherwise relatively pleasant place to kick back and relax.

Also on the rooftop is Alchemist Design Orchard, a minimalistic cafe offering reasonably-priced signature espresso drinks and pastries, ranging from $3.50 to $7.

The rooftop is open to the public and can be accessed from the entrance to Design Orchard on the first floor.

Address: 250 Orchard Road
Opening hours: 11am to 8pm daily

5. Funan Mall

The new Funan Mall is vastly different to what it once used to be, albeit still a tech haven for its shoppers.

Decked in neon signs and electronic shops, the futuristic mall also has a range of fast food restaurants, bakeries, cafes and a food court to boot.

But the show-stopper of Funan is in fact its rooftop urban farm run by Edible Garden City (EGC).

The 5,000 sq ft urban farm features a variety of vegetables and edible plants that are grown pesticide-free and hand-tended by EGC’s farmers.

These plants are used by Noka, a Japanese restaurant located by the entrance of the rooftop, which uses a farm-to-table concept of cooking with fresh produce.

The rooftop also features a fully automated Ark Futsal pitch that can be booked online with rates starting from $39 per hour.
