With the current Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) measures, many of us are urged to stay at home and you may be looking for some fun activities to keep you entertained during this period.

If you are looking for ways to cook up a storm and impress your family with your culinary skills, here are five easy recipes from TikTok you can attempt to make at home!

1. Feta Pasta

If you have been on TikTok, you would have definitely seen this dish – Feta Pasta. Popular for its easy five step recipe based on a Greek appetizer – baked feta, the dish is very creamy with a hint of saltiness in every bite.

Creating this dish is easy and you may be able to find most ingredients at home. All you need are tomatoes, feta cheese, any pasta you like, olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic. You can also experiment with different types of seasonings such as basil or thyme.

To cook this recipe, prepare an oven-safe dish before adding the tomatoes, olive oil and seasoning. At the centre of your dish, add a block of feta cheese that is well coated in olive oil.

Next, bake the dish in the oven at 400 degrees for 35 minutes and start boiling your pasta. When the tomatoes and cheese are ready, simply mix it with your pasta and you’re done!

2. Rice Cooker Pancakes

You may think that rice cookers are only used to cook rice, right? Well there is another way to make use of your rice cooker and that is to make pancakes!

For an easy shortcut, you can purchase a pre-made pancake mix which only requires water to create your batter. Before you begin cooking, do ensure that your rice cooker has been greased with cooking spray to avoid the pancakes from sticking.

Let the pancake cook for about 25 to 35 minutes until the surface is fluffy and bouncy when touched. After it’s done, carefully flip it onto a plate and top it off with your favourite pancake toppings.

3. Corn ribs

If you feel like opting for a healthier snack option, corn ribs are certainly a snack you should try out!

As you guessed it, the main ingredient you need is corn, butter and extra seasoning such as chilli powder, garlic powder, paprika and salt. The best thing about this recipe is that you can also customise your seasoning to suit your taste buds!

Simply slice your corn lengthwise into four pieces and spread your seasoning evenly before baking it in the airfryer. To achieve a crunchy texture, the corn ribs are best cooked at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

4. Pancake cereal

Switch up your usual cereal game with mini pancakes – a trendy breakfast recipe that first gained popularity during the circuit breaker last year before making its return again during P2HA!

All you need is your pancake batter and milk as well as your preferred toppings such as blueberries or strawberries.

Next, you can begin to create miniature pancakes onto your frying pan at low heat until it has a crispy texture. One way you can do so is by pouring the batter into a piping bag to create more uniform shapes.

Once the “cereal” is prepared, add your milk and top it off with your favourite toppings to enjoy!

5. Cowboy hats

Enjoy your movie nights with this fun and simple snack that you can make with your family! Cowboy Hats recently became popular on TikTok because of its bizarre combination of potato chips and marshmallows.

Despite this seemingly weird combination, the recipe is well-liked by users because of the way the sweet chocolate complements the saltiness of the potato chip.

With your marshmallows, burn the edges slightly using a lighter before peeling the burnt crust off. Afterwards, attach the melty marshmallow onto your potato chip and let it sit for five minutes.

In the meantime, you can create your chocolate sauce by melting regular milk chocolate or any chocolate flavour of your choice to coat the “hat”.
