Fireworks display returns for Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2023 after 2-year absence
This year’s countdown party will include a circus and a carnival too.
The highly anticipated fireworks display will return to illuminate the Marina Bay skyline at Singapore’s biggest countdown event, Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2023 (MBSC) after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.
On Dec 31, members of the public can view the fireworks at midnight from around the Bay to welcome the new year, the MBSC organisers announced on Monday (Sep 19).
This year’s countdown will also bring back a series of fun-filled programmes such as multi-sensory fireworks musical extravaganza STAR ISLAND, which will return to The Float at Marina Bay.
For the first time ever, the experience will also extend to the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza with a special pre-show activation.
Another activity to look forward to is Share the Moment – a series of light projections shows in partnership with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC).
Projected on the facades of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and the Merlion in the last week of December, the shows will feature never-before-seen original artworks by students from local educational institutions, which celebrate acts of giving both big and small.
At the Bayfront Event Space, The Show Master, a premium entertainment arm of Uncle Ringo, will present The Great Bay Fiesta from Dec 1, comprising three highlights.
The entertainment show, The Great Cirque des Cascades, will showcase brand-new circus stunts, while The Great World Carnival will feature rides and games which pay homage to the historic Great World Amusement Park, offering visitors a glimpse into Singapore’s leisure and entertainment scene in the 1920s to 1970s.
In addition, The Great Food Fiesta will feature over 30 food stalls with unique and exclusive offerings.
Visitors can also swing by After Hours @ The Lawn, a lifestyle hub featuring larger-than-life games and playsets, F&B booths, entertainment offerings and a chill-out zone with a view of the fireworks.
For music lovers, there’s also Mediacorp’s Let’s Celebrate 2023 countdown concert over at The Promontory and free performances at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and Concourse, courtesy of Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
More details of the various programmes and activities will be announced in the coming months, said the organisers.
