No one’s ever really gone, so said Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Master who appeared in season two’s finale of The Mandalorian in what could be termed as one of the best moments of the show so far.

Lucasfilm and Disney+ are now taking it to the next level, giving the moment its own big special.

Titled Making of the Season 2 Finale, this new special episode of Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian will be released on Aug 25 on Disney+.

It will focus on the technology used for recreating a young Luke Skywalker and delve into the collaborative process, including working with Mark Hamill, to create an authentic and fitting recreation, and explores the immense pressure and responsibility the filmmakers had in bringing back one of the most important characters in film history.

The Mandalorian – the first live action Star Wars TV series – received 24 nominations for the Emmy Awards 2021 on Wednesday (Jul 14), the joint-most alongside Netflix’s The Crown.
