Mickey Mouse transforms into a hopping vampire at BLAXK by ActionCity’s latest exhibition with Daniel Yu
The Mickey Jiangshi figurine dons a Jiangshi costume, and different poses can be set according to collectors’ preferences
Mickey Mouse has undergone a Halloween makeover, transforming into a hopping vampire at ActionCity’s BLAXK art toy gallery.
A collaboration between Disney, ActionCity and local sculptor Daniel Yu, The Disney x ActionCity’s Mickey Jiangshi exhibition runs from Oct 22 to Nov 20.
The Jiangshi, also known as a chinese hopping vampire, was previously featured in Daniel’s exhibition Altered Realities: A Jiangshi Introspection. Using the influences he grew up with as inspiration, Daniel’s works focus on combining pop culture with local tradition, which led to his renown for the Jiangshi art collectibles.
During the creative process of Disney x ActionCity’s Mickey Jiangshi, Daniel designed the Mickey Jiangshi figurine by reimagining the cartoon character donning a Jiangshi costume.
The Mickey Jiangshi is casted in vinyl and features regular joints, capturing the realistic feeling of the Jiangshi. Collectors can dictate the pose of the figurines according to their preferences.
To complement the exhibition, BLAXK by ActionCity will also feature Mickey Jiangshi artworks on its glass mural façade.
Disney x ActionCity’s Mickey Jiangshi opens 11am to 9.30pm daily, and interested collectors can pre-order their own Mickey Jiangshi either online or at the exhibition for $208.
BLAXK by ActionCity is located at #01-03 Funan Mall, 107 North Bridge Road.
