Taking place from Sep 10 to Oct 3, the festival is organised by non-profit organisation My Community and aims to bring the community together and help Singaporeans re-discover everyday people and places. It will feature over 60 interesting and exciting events, spread across 10 unique programmes.
If you’re a morning person, you might be interested in the Sunrise @ My Community events where you can try your hand at sunrise photography or do some birdwatching. Conversely, there are also Sunset @ My Community events where you can watch stunning sunsets in different locations around Singapore such as Woodlands, Dakota and Queenstown.
If you’re a night owl, the After Hours @ My Community tours, including tours of Bukit Brown Cemetery and Toa Payoh funeral services might just be your cup of tea.
During the festival you can also learn how to make delicious desserts such as egg tarts and ondeh ondeh. You’ll also get the opportunity to meet expert craftsmen and learn more about unique crafts such as knife sharpening and tombstone engraving.
The festival also offers tours of the various offshore islands surrounding Singapore, places of worship and iconic neighbourhoods Holland Village and Tiong Bahru. If you’re into the performing arts, there are also several music and dance performances lined up over the course of the festival.
There will also be free Zoom webinars where you’ll get to find out what day-to-day life is like for a zookeeper, an estate cleaner and even a Member-of-Parliament.
