As part of Decathlon’s sustainable September campaign, the sporting retailer is offering a 50 per cent discount for four models of its bicycles.

The four bikes, which range from kid bikes to sporting bikes, are the Rockrider ST 30 Mountain Bike – White, Rockrider ST 100 Sport Trail Bike – Black and Yellow, as well as the BTWN Riverside 500 Kids Hybrid Bike.

The discount is Decathlon’s way of celebrating World Car Free Day on Sep 22. The brand is also commemorating a car free-month, which encourages people to choose sustainable modes of transport like walking and cycling rather than an automobile.

Other initiatives under its sustainable September campaign include the brand’s annual beach clean-up and a second life initiative for returned products.

The brand recently introduced its new sustainability initiative – Decathlon Second Life, which offers customers recycled and repaired sports products that are still in good condition at discounted prices.

It serves to extend the life cycle of defective products that have been returned, after going through various safety checks and certifications by in-house technicians. Customers can pick up such products at any of their outlets or on its website

In line with their sustainability vision, Decathlon also committed to having 100 per cent of their products created with an eco-design and doing 100 per cent of reparable work in their workshops by 2026.

Decathlon’s annual beach clean-up session at East Coast Park will also fall on Sep 22, held in line with the World Clean Up Day on Sep 17. The event will last from 9am to 12pm at East Coast Park’s Area F, with gloves and cleaning equipment provided.

Participants are advised to dress in comfortable attire and covered shoes, as well as bring along their water bottles. Those interested can sign up for the event on Decathlon’s website.
