DBS Paylah! users can now use the application for purchases in 45 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Japan.

The service was introduced on Tuesday (Jun 21) and is a collaboration between DBS, electronic payment provider NETS and UnionPay. It utilises quick response (QR) codes from a global payment network UnionPay, tapping into the company’s payment network of 31 million retailers worldwide.

In order to pay using the application, users will have to either scan the code provided at stores or generate their own UnionPay QR code at supported merchants.

The application also automatically handles the transaction’s currency conversion, so consumers will only need to scan and pay in a few taps.

In celebration of the service, DBS and UnionPay are running a series of promotions, available exclusively to DBS PayLah! users. To redeem the offers, users will have to scan the UnionPay QR Code with the Paylah! application at selected merchants.
