Costumes you will be sick of seeing this Halloween

Here's what not to wear this year as you go trick or treatin'.

As a (not so) proud anti-horror advocate, the best parts of Halloween, to me, are the costume parties.

Turn to any corner of a 2015 Halloween dress up party and you will see another Elsa from Frozen lurking around. Unless you are a cute little girl genuinely aspiring to be an Ice Queen, we are sick of seeing you, Elsa doppelgänger!

Here are our predictions of the costumes you will definitely see in Halloween this year.

1. Joker and Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad

Expect a myriad of girls with bi-coloured pigtails. Since the release of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn cosplays have been appearing in one photoshoot after another. An abundance of Harleys would also mean a herd of accompanying Joker boyfriends. Of course.

These costumes may be a treat to your eyes now, but I’m not sure if it will turn into a trick once your whole squad turns into mini Jokers and Harleys during the Halloween season.

2. Harambe

Be it to pay tribute to the poor gorilla who got shot or to make a total joke out of it, get ready for furry black creatures roaming around town.

Better still, we might see gorilla fathers bringing along their toddler sons to re-enact Harambe’s fateful incident with the 3-year-old boy.

3. Pokémon characters

Pika, Pika?

This is the ultimate must-have costume for lazy people who still want to look presentable at a Halloween party. You don’t have to put in any effort – just throw on a Pokémon onesie and pretend you just broke free from a Pokéball in Pokémon GO.

Wouldn’t it be cute if your group of friends dress up as different Pokémons and Poké hunters together? If you think that way, you might want to reconsider. 70 per cent of the whole population probably thinks so too.

4. The white-eyed zombies from Train to Busan

Zombies seem to appear every year at Halloween parties, but this year’s may be a little more specific, thanks to Train to Busan. The fast moving, white-eyed flesh eaters have been the talk of the town for the past two months.

If you are celebrating Halloween at Bishan, now is the best time to live out the cliché “Train to Bishan” joke. Who knows, these undead creatures might very well be the life of the party.

5. Ghostbusters

What more can I say? Just pack on some jumpsuits, high boots, backpacks and machine lookalikes, and you’re cool enough to conquer some missions.

Since the new Ghostbusters featured a female cast, you will see both sexes getting into character, flooding the whole party with camel playsuits. Great.

6. Characters from Alice Through the Looking Glass

Be it Alice’s oriental Chinese gown, the Mad Hatter’s colourful hats, or the two sisters’ (Red and White Queen) fairytale get-up, Alice Through the Looking Glass offers a variety of eccentric costume ideas for you to pick from.

Most costumes are not for the easily embarrassed, though I won’t be surprised to see many glamourous ladies twirling around the room as the White Queen.

Oh yes, let’s not forget about the yearly “I can’t be bothered about Halloween” costume — the glowing devil’s hairband.
