Contemporary music ensemble Nanyang Collective to hold second major production on Feb 10
The local ensemble seeks to portray the journey of life through its music.
The Nanyang Collective is set to present its second major production, Life, at the Esplanade Recital Studio on Feb 10 at 7.30pm.
The multicultural, three-movement production is composed by Dr John Sharpley, Jon Lin Chua and Dr Chong Kee Yong, and aims to evoke the emotions of attendees through music, which in turn would make them reminisce their memories, said the Nanyang Collective in a press release.
Led by music director Dedric Wong, Nanyang Collective is known for experimenting with cross-disciplinary elements such as theatre while producing fresh tunes through new music that is inspired by Singapore, life and humanity.
The group consists of professional local musicians who play a myriad of instruments from both the Asian and Western cultures, aiming to challenge normality by bringing together a combination of musicians and composers to present a different perspective on life.
Its inaugural production, Project 2020, focused on the impact the pandemic had on Singapore’s society in five movements, and garnered positive reviews from critics.
“With the help of staging, lighting and theatrical aspects, we hope to accomplish a sensory and emotional concert that brings us back to reminisce on our journey of Life,” said the Nanyang Collective.
Tickets are priced at $30 and can be purchased on SISTIC.
