A large-scale installation made by 480 youths and eight local artists will be featured as the performance backdrop of the Chingay 2023.

Chingay 2023 will take place at the F1 Pit Building on Feb 3 and 4. The physical parade will involve over 10,000 participants, and see the return of floats both big and small.

The annual Chingay parade is organised by People’s Association (PA) and is Singapore’s “largest community art showcase”.

Chingay 2023 will be themed Embrace Tomorrow and completes the trilogy that started with the first-ever digital Chingay 2021’s theme of Light of Hope, followed by the Chingay 2022’s theme Ignite Our Dreams

Embrace Tomorrow calls on Singaporeans to treasure the present and embrace tomorrow together as a community with hope, dreams, and confidence as we commit to a brighter Singapore, explained People’s Association.

Designed by local artist Sam Lo, the large-scale installation represents the community’s aspirations of using art to “preserve our (Singapore’s) multicultural heritage in a creative and fun way while showcasing a young, unified, and collaborative community spirit”.

The Chingay celebrations will also take place in the heartlands. Chingay@Heartlands will feature performances, as well as big floats and selected community-created mini floats in different residential estates.

Attendees can expect live performances by the Chingay Community Star 2023 of We’ve Got Talent! (WGT) and winning dance groups of the D:2 (Dynamic: Diversity) Dance Competition 2023. They will perform at both the F1 Pit Building and heartland celebrations.

Those who wish to see the large-scale installation can purchase Sector A tickets ranging from $28.50 to $60 depending on chosen category.

Tickets for Sectors B, C, and D seats priced at $20 each allow for a close-up experience and interaction with performers and the floats.

Tickets for Chingay 2023 can be purchased at SISTIC.
