Changi Airport Terminal 4 (T4) will finally reopen in September 2022, Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced on Friday (Jun 10).

This move is in response to the growing demand for flights after borders began to open up internationally. T4 operations were suspended in May 2020 after the decline in air travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the first week of June 2022, passenger traffic reached 48 per cent of pre-pandemic levels. As such, there have been more requests for more flights to prepare for the Northern Winter season from Oct 30.

To cope with this rising demand, T4 will first reopen in September 2022 to handle both departure and arrival flights. While CAG is still in the midst of making preparations with the relevant partners, visitors can expect a small number of retail and Food & Beverage (F&B) outlets when T4 opens.

CAG also announced the resumption of departure operations at Terminal 2 (T2) in October 2022. This comes after the commencement of arrival flights on May 29. Current renovation works in the northern wing will continue.

Passengers arriving at T2 can look forward to new stores by The Shilla Duty Free and Lotte Duty Free stores in August and September respectively. There will also be up to four new F&B outlets in the Arrival hall.

To further support the recovery of the travel industry, Changi Airport have been actively recruiting to fill various positions in the airport, as well as working hard to secure tenants for the two terminals.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CAG Mr Lee Seow Hiang said: “We are optimistic and excited about the future for Changi Airport and look forward to serving passengers again in our reopened terminals.”
