Changi Airport Group launches virtual world featuring landmarks on Roblox

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has launched ChangiVerse, a virtual world on the popular gaming platform Roblox.

Developed in collaboration with IT company Accenture, ChangiVerse features popular landmarks like Jewel Changi Airport, the distinctive Changi control tower, the outdoor dinosaur display attraction Jurassic Mile and a plane hangar. 

The core game of ChangiVerse is the Changi Kart racing game, where players race on a circuit which weaves through Airport Boulevard.

From now till September, the racer with the fastest lap timing each month will win a pair of Economy Class air tickets on Singapore Airlines. 

Singapore residents will be able to make a round trip to any destination with a direct flight serviced by the airline, while overseas winners will be rewarded with a trip to Singapore.

The aim of the game is to collect purple butterfly tokens to receive a speed boost while avoiding obstacles such as laser windmills or sweeping tails of dinosaurs lumbering alongside the track.

Apart from Changi Kart, players can also look forward to a variety of mini games which emulate the airport experience, such as Check-In and Baggage Claim. 

As they progress through the game, players can level up and unlock new areas and items, such as ChangiVerse-exclusive wearables for their digital avatar.

Players will also be greeted by the world’s largest indoor waterfall, surrounded by the lush greenery of Jewel, when they enter the ChangiVerse. 

ChangiVerse’s map will also boast one of the airport’s most popular sights, the Changi control tower.

The structure will feature the Obby Expert (parkour) obstacle course mini game, which challenges players to scale the building by bouncing on clouds to reach the top.

Players can also look forward to customising their own aeroplanes at the plane hangar. They will be able to choose from a variety of models, ranging from vintage propeller planes to sleek, modern fighter jets.

Aside from exploring the airport terminals and runways, players can also take a dip with a Mosasaurus at the Jurassic Mile.

Five special golden butterfly tokens, worth vastly more than the purple butterfly tokens, have been hidden in various locations throughout the virtual realm and reappear daily for players to find and collect.

The butterfly tokens can also be used to redeem plane models and skins for the Plane Configurator as well as ChangiVerse-exclusive limited-edition digital wearables at the ChangiVerse Terminal 3 store. 

A range of wings and luggage for Roblox avatars have been specially designed with Changi-themed motifs, like the butterfly wings and the dino tail luggage. 

ChangiVerse aims to allow fans of Changi, or those who have not had the chance to travel through the airport, to explore, interact, and engage with Changi in the digital space.
