Bukit Canberra sports hall opens, bookings available from Nov 1
Other facilities to open in the future include a Hawker Centre, swimming pools and a polyclinic.
Residents of Sembawang can now book slots for eight badminton courts, two badminton or pickleball courts and eight table tennis tables at the newly-opened parts of Bukit Canberra sports hall.
In a Facebook post on Monday (Oct 24), Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung announced that parts of Bukit Canberra hub, an integrated sports and community centre located in Sembawang, were open and available for booking.
Bookings can now be made for slots from Nov 1 on the ActiveSG App, with operating hours from 7am to 10pm.
The sports hall will eventually be expanded to accommodate 12 badminton courts or three basketball or volleyball courts.
Other facilities expected to open progressively include five swimming pools, the largest ActiveSG gym in Singapore and a polyclinic.
A hawker centre in Bukit Canberra hub is expected to open by the first quarter of 2023 with 44 stalls. It will have sustainability features including a food digester as part of a food waste conveyance system to reduce the facility’s environmental footprint.
The Canberra House, a national monument housed at the integrated hub and formerly known as the Admiralty House, will be converted into a library in 2024.
