Bugis Junction cluster grows to 222 cases, while cases linked to eight bus interchanges rises to 276
There are two new clusters.
The COVID-19 cluster at Bugis Junction has grown to 222 cases, with 11 new cases added to it on Tuesday (Aug 31), the MInistry of Health (MOH) announced. There were 26 news cases linked to the clusters at the bus interchanges. The eight bus interchanges now have a total of 276 cases.
There are now 20 cases at Tampines Bus Interchange, 50 cases at Boon Lay Bus Interchange, 26 cases at Jurong East Bus Interchange, 85 cases at Toa Payoh Bus Interchange, 27 cases at Bishan Bus Interchange, 30 cases at Punggol Bus Interchange, 14 cases at Clementi Bus Interchange and 24 cases at Sengkang Bus Interchange.
Only Clementi and Sengkang had no new cases reported on Tuesday.
Two new COVID-19 clusters were identified by MOH, with three and four cases each. They are linked to Case 69739 and Case 69690. No other information was provided.
There are now 70 active clusters in Singapore.
MOH reported 156 new local COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, of which 79 were unlinked.
This is the highest daily new local COVID-19 infections since July 22, when 162 infections were reported.
Of the remaining cases, 48 were linked to previous cases and have already been placed on quarantine while 29 were detected through surveillance.
There are five imported cases who were placed either on Stay-Home Notice or in isolation upon arrival in Singapore.
