Would you wear a pair of shoes that looks worn-out, much less buy a pair that looks tattered and torn for $2,600?

High-end luxury brand Balenciaga is doing exactly that – selling a pair of “destroyed” trainers at that price.

The “destroyed” version of its Paris High Top Trainers come in black and white. With rips, tears, black smudges, and the word Balenciaga scribbled on the side, the trainers were made to look “extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied” with the message that they are “meant to be worn for a lifetime”.

Only 100 pairs of these “destroyed” trainers are available in the world.

Previously, Balenciaga had launched the Paris High Top Trainers for only $895.

The series of “full destroyed” versions of its trainers, designed by Demna Gvasalia, went viral on social media when it was first launched on May 9 after photos for the campaign were posted.

This is not the first time that Balenciaga has gained social media traction for its peculiar and unique launches. In 2017, the luxury brand had released a $2,145 blue tote bag that closely resembled Ikea’s $0.90 Frakta carrier bags.

Early this year, Balenciaga had also collaborated with Crocs. The line features iconic Crocs shoes with unique twists such as adding heels.

The “destroyed” Paris High Top Trainers are available for purchase on Balenciaga’s official website, while stocks last.
