Avatar: The Way of Water’s teaser trailer features new majestic creatures
The trailer shows Jake and Neytiri riding the banshees from the first film and swimming underwater with new whale-like beasts.
After 13 years of waiting, audiences finally have their first look at Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-anticipated sequel to 2009’s Avatar.
Disney’s 20th Century Studios released a teaser trailer on May 9 on YouTube, which shows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) riding the banshees from the first film and swimming underwater with new whale-like beasts.
The teaser is almost entirely devoid of dialogue, save for the end of the trailer when Jake says: “I know one thing. Wherever we go, this family is our fortress.”
According to 20th Century Studios, the sequel takes place more than 10 years after Jake Sully fell in love with Neytiri, became an avatar and relocated permanently from Earth to Pandora.
Now, Jake and Neytiri must protect their family and home from dangerous forces threatening their way of life.
Along with some of the movie’s other returning cast members like Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi, the upcoming movie will also add a variety of new actors and characters including Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh.
The fantasy film is set for release in Singapore cinemas on Dec 15. The first movie is currently available to watch on Disney+.
