Applications for Singapore’s first arts university UAS to open in August 2023
The University of the Arts Singapore will validate, confer, and award degrees offered by both LASALLE and NAFA.
Applications for the University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) will open in August 2023 for its first intake in August 2024.
The announcement was made at the school’s logo unveiling event at the Inaugural UAS Arts Symposium on May 10.
During his speech, Professor Kwok Kian Woon also announced that the National Arts Council and UAS will launch the NAC-UAS Arts Scholarship in time for the first undergraduate intake in August 2024.
The UAS will validate, confer and award degrees offered by both LASALLE College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, with new programmes offered by both institutions to be announced in the coming months.
The event gathered many esteemed participants, including Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing and over 450 arts educators and partners from government agencies, industry and cultural organisations.
Shared at the event, the logo’s main colour, UAS Magenta, is a “merging of red and sky blue”, with the base hue of red originating from Singaporean roots, while the sky-blue overlay represents the “desire to bring influence to the world”.

The university’s opening was first announced in 2022 by the Ministry of Education.
As Singapore’s first arts university, the UAS shares that it aims to nurture a new generation of forward-looking artists, designers, educators, researchers, arts leaders and changemakers.
