Among Us to launch on PlayStation 4 and 5 this year

At its State of Play streaming event on Thursday (Apr 29), Sony announced that Among Us will be coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles in the second half of 2021.

Currently, no specified date has been confirmed for the PlayStation launch. 

First launched in 2018 as a mobile and PC game by developer Innersloth, the social deduction game involves identifying and eliminating ‘Imposter’ crewmates among players.

The game surged in popularity in 2020, making it the most downloaded mobile game of the year. It was also previously launched on the Nintendo Switch.

Among Us on PS4 and PS5 can be played with players using mobile, PC and Nintendo Switch platforms and will feature all four available maps, including a brand new Airship map. 

PlayStation players will also receive exclusive Ratchet & Clank-themed cosmetics including a game skin, hat and a pet.

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Victoria Tran, community director at Innersloth said: “There is a lot we could say about Among Us, but truly the best part has been seeing the community gather around our indie title. From doodles to entire live action movies and countless streams, we’ve seen a lot of love pouring out for our little space beans.” 

“We hope we can continue giving back that same energy! There are lots of updates we have planned for Among Us, and we can’t wait to take our PlayStation community along for the ride.”
