Ah Girls Go Army trailer drops, showing Jack Neo’s take on women in NS
The movie is slated to release on Feb 1.
Just four months after the movie was announced, the trailer for Ah Girls Go Army dropped on Jan 17.
The movie is about female Singaporeans having to enlist in the army in the wake of a serious shortage of manpower, due to declining birth rates.
The trailer shows 14 female recruits undergoing Girls Basic Military Training (GBMT), and a few of the struggles that they undergo.
These include having to forgo painted nails and skincare, confronting their fear of wild animals, and drama between bunkmates.
Many comedic moments are also shown, driven by the diverse cast of new female characters. The trailer shows them having archetypes like the tomboy, the scaredy-cat, the koreaboo and the beauty queen.
Apple Chan is reprising her role as Zhang Xin Yi, the tough-as-nails sergeant who’s been put in charge of the female recruits.
The trailer also teases a few familiar faces from the Ah Boys To Men franchise. Maxi Lim and Charlie Goh will likely reprise their roles, but seem to have moved up in the ranks since the previous movies.
The movie is slated to drop on Feb 1, the first day of Chinese New Year.
